June 3 - July 3, 2022 | His Daughter Paloma
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been significantly changing the nature of creative processes. As computers become more capable and faster, forms of AI reinforce their presence in the center stage of the creative process, becoming the main drivers of creativity and innovation. Algorithms are at the core of many of the artifacts generated artistically. Artificial intelligence, specifically Generative Adversarial Networks have been playing a pivotal role in advancing art, in keeping it lively and inserting fresh ideas. GANs can study the patterns in the strokes, colors, and shading of a particular art piece. It can transfer the style from the original artwork into a new image based on the analysis.
As Rema, we want to show how GANs can be used to illustrate the importance of addressing climate change. We believe that making art is the most creative and innovative way to help human beings understand the impact and importance of climate change. What better way to raise awareness for climate change than making art with GANs that leverages both technology and creativity? One Climate Eight Realities follows the artworks of 8 GAN artists who train on the same climate change data set to create an artwork. Each artist has a totally unique output that emphasizes the magical nature of GANs. The exhibition employs artificial intelligence as a lens to explore visual art for today’s NFT savvy audience and rethink the traditional artistic techniques in the context of human-machine relationship.
